As a community of faith we believe in setting aside some time every week for worship.
Sunday Worship
10 AM Sunday, in Kimberley United Church.
All are welcome. Casual dress is perfect! The service is one hour long.
You can read recent Sermons.
You can view a recent order of service
The Sacrament of Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of each month. We alternate between a seated Communion and one served at Stations. All who wish to participate are welcome, regardless of membership. Click for more information on Communion at Kimberley United.
Children and youth
are invited to join us in worship. There are songs and stories for them.
Colouring sheets, crayons, books and quiet toys are available for them to use during the service in the front right corner of the Sanctuary. They can remain there or sit with others in the congregation.
Music and Choir
During worship we sing from both ‘Voices United’ and ‘More Voices’ hymn books. Our current practice for hymns is “something old, something new”, with at least one old favourite and one newer piece (usually from ‘More Voices’) each Sunday.
Other Vocal Service Music is chosen from the Taize Community publication, ‘Songs of Prayer’. Generally there are two such selections sung – a Choir Introit and a joint Choir/Congregational song prior to the Prayers of the People.
Musical accompaniment is generally piano or organ although other instrumentation such as guitar, trumpet, flute and Djembe hand drum are used from time to time.
We have a fine and dedicated choir, usually about 16 in number.
Our choir practices on Thursday evenings at 6:00 PM. If you enjoy singing, join us!
Liturgical Arts
Members of our congregation who are fabric artists add to the environment of our church with seasonal hangings.
Flowers, often from local gardens, bring God’s beauty into our space.
Sunday Fellowship
Sunday morning is a time of worship and a time of fellowship. Greeters welcome people as they arrive for church. Our Celebration Time during the service is one way we share both happy and sad occasions with our church family. Coffee time after the service is the time to chat with friends, both old and new.
If you are a visitor or new to our community please join us for refreshments and conversation after the service.
Worship at The Pines
One Monday each month at 10:30 AM we lead a worship service at The Pines Care Facility.
Baptism
Kimberley United Church will be happy to discuss baptism for any child whose parents approach our church. Parents meet with the minister and discuss the meaning of baptism and their commitment in encouraging their child to find out more about God. An adult who was not baptised as a child may also be baptised, and this results in full membership in the church. An adult baptism follows a meeting with the Minister to understand the meaning of this sacrament.
Weddings
The Minister will lead couples through the steps needed to get married at Kimberley United Church. Our Weddings page has our marriage policy.
Funerals
Upon request. The Minister will assist you in preparing for and will conduct a funeral or memorial service.
