Rev. Sun Young (Sunny ) Kim
Sunny is originally from South Korea but has a lot of international experiences. She has experienced and lived in different countries such as USA, France, Kenya, and Canada, broadening her perspectives.
Rev. Sunny Kim was minister at KUC from 2015 to 2019.
Sunny has studied French literature, Elementary and French as a Second Language Education, as well as theology and biblical studies. As a biblical scholar, Sunny takes the Bible notably seriously, yet not literally.
Sunny received a Master of Divinity degree from Drew University Theological School in New Jersey, and was ordained in the Methodist Church in Kenya. She is in the process of completing her Master of Arts degree in Biblical Studies from McGill University.
As an early childhood educator, Sunny is fun loving, motherly, and youthful.
Sunny was raised and ordained in the Methodist Church, but she came to Canada to join the United Church of Canada for its inclusive policies and concerns for social justice. She is passionate about social justice.
Sunny loves children, education, preaching, poetry, and learning new things. She loves music; she plays guitar and enjoys singing. She also has passion for theatre.
Rev. Sunny completed the requirements of the United Church of Canada, and in 2018 was recognized as a minister of the United Church of Canada at the annual meeting of BC Conference.
At the annual meeting of KUC in February, 2019, announced that she would resign effective June 30, 2019.
