On October 2 we gathered on the front lawn of KUC for a special service of Blessing our pets.
Why? St Francis of Assisi lived in Italy in the 12th Century. Having grown up in a wealthy family, he renounced his wealth and worldly possessions and lived very simply.
When Francis spoke, everyone listened, including the animals. He is said to have preached a sermon once to a flock of birds.
And so, in his honour of this remarkable man, we gather on this day with our animals, our pets and service animals, and we think of all God’s creatures: those that live with us, and those that live in the wild, for those that feed us, those that feed on our gardens.
For all creatures we give thanks and express our wonder and respect.
